Fields of the Nephilim, 24 May 2007 @London Astoria

Does any one plan to attend this? They sort of returned under the radar of most people, and I thought maybe there would be some interest as they are one of the only "goth" band that takes their art seriously.

The date of the concert does clash with Wave Gotik Treffen, still, is any planning to attend?

RE: Fields of the Nephilim, 24 May 2007 @London Astoria

I've been a huge FOTN fan in the 90s, I've seen FOTN, Nefilim and Rubicon all live in those days.
But now I prefer to keep the original line-up in good, vivid memory. I am not up-to-date with the line-up, but it is no reunion, isn't it? It's still Carl McCoy plus some other guys? I saw Carl plus other Guys (it was the transition from Nefilim back to FOTN before another hiatus) on a festival years ago and it's just not the same as the original band. Not the same brilliant sound, especially due to a second guitar player missing, and the magic was gone (ok, that's a personal impression).
Soundwise "Rubicon" as the band with new singer was (at least when live performing) more FOTN than Carl with his three-piece backing band.
That's why I don't expect much from this and would recommend to watch the live DVD to catch the original spirit.

There have been no releases of information regarding the line up for the show in May. I have the Forever Remain / Visionary Heads DVD, and it is quite good. From what I have seen of the M'era Luna footage, it did not appear the same. Though, with the release of Mourning Sun, things may change.

Perhaps the identity of the ghost musicians on the last album will finally be revealed.

yep, that's the one I had in mind :-]

If I were in London in May, I would definitely go to the Gotham 8 festival,
w/ reunited Cassandra Complex, ITN, and you get also NFD, which as a FOTN spin-off covers the sound quite well (from samples I have heard)

maybe an option for you?

Oh, no, I am not going to be leaving Dallas any time soon (-even for vacation). Was merely spreading information about this event in addition to checking if any one here is familiar.

As for the Gotham event, you can get a hundred of those bands and still not have some thing which makes as much an impact that seeing a band like the Nephilim would have. Though this is a personal statement only.
