Transferring this here because although I get what you all are saying, I don't have the German proficiency to express myself in the way I'd like.

So anyway. Seems that Covenant had a less than stellar show and people are annoyed by that. I remember seeing Cruexshadows for the second time and their show was less than stellar, comparatively speaking.

However, it wasn't a catastrophe, wasn't the end of the world, and I was very happy to see them again.

I also remember seeing Project Pitchfork in Germany as well- the first time I saw them live was in 1998, when they were here supporting 242. They were *fantastic* both in Dallas and in Austin. When I saw them in Germany and Belgium (I think it was Pitchfork in Belgium and not just Spilles' solo project but I can't be sure), they were mediocre to so-so. But I was still thrilled to have a chance to *be* there and see them live. I also remember how rude I thought it was that people were booing 242 in Koeln when they had to stop their show earlier than desired due to *laws of the city*, which 242 had no control over.

In short, I don't mean to ramble, but I guess I do not get why people are hyperfocusing on one show that was perhaps not their best. Are they consistently substandard? No. If they were, neither you or I would be here.

Looking at the clips, I don't see what the problem is. Granted, I wasn't there. But unless the guys were stumbling over themselves incoherent like Sid Vicious post-Sex Pistols, personally I don't really care if the singer botches some lyrics here and there as long as they keep the show going. Everyone (including me) was sauced in Poland and Covenant definitely had a couple of missed cues, but *everyone* was having a blast. Energy is reciprocal- the performer can do all they can do to set the tone but sometimes the audience sucks, or the sound system sucks, or whatever.

Looking at the clips, I mainly wish that I was there, and had the *opportunity* to complain about the show (or not). I get a twinge of longing and maybe just a touch of envy that you guys get to see shows, *many* many shows, all the time that many of us would love to see so much that we can't express it. So it's a bit odd for us to be across the ocean(s) reading about something you seem to take for granted that we would love to be a part of- missed cues, botched lines, weird soundsystem, or not.

My usual caveat applies the same as when I normally burst in with dissent: not meaning to piss anyone off, and I apologize if I come across as patronizing, whining, preaching, or judgmental. It sincerely isn't my intent to do so. Just wanted to articulate some observations is all. The main point being, I honestly don't see what is catastrophic about a show that, while perhaps not being their best, was far from disastrous.

If what I saw on the clips *was* disastrous, I'd be there critiquing as well- er, actually, maybe not- as I probably might not say anything due to my being the type of person who thinks of extenuating circumstances, ie, "Oh, Cruexshadows have been touring so much and they're probably tired- not their best, but they're trying, and I'm having a good time", or "Pitchfork seem a little off, but damn, I'm happy to see them, especially abroad!". Maybe Spilles was up all night until 10:00 in the morning drinking or whatever- I don't care- I was still happy just to be there. If it isn't an unmitigated, indisputable disaster, then it's what you make of it, I think.

Upon reflection I think I'd say something if critique were warranted. But considering how long it took me to finally decide that, I believe I'd think my words through long and well to make sure they truly are constructive, and not just a knee-jerk emotional response.

I tend to be the type to step back and take subjectivity into perspective too...
