New Architect and Substanz-T

The newest Architect album has been out for a few months, has anyone else picked it up? Some how Architect keeps growing darker with each release. There is a feeling of melancholy on the last two Architect albums, but Lower Lip Interface evokes a mental image of traveling endlessly underground. The artwork makes more sense now that I think of it. Extra remixes by Torrent Vaccine, Synnack, and Nebulo are also rather cool/quirky.

he went out shopping to get some noise. he found out noise was out of stock. he analyzed noise trading - and nobody knows what happened since then. now that's what our secret agents could tell us: mr. d.myer, the architect, the apostle of st. vodka, the creator - he discovered how to use his lower lip interface. bits and pieces of information reached hymen records' office, packets of sound were transferred via internet within hours - a race against time, speed-frame technology and freeze-frame reality. but we made it and here's the final result.'lower lip interface' - an orgy of synth-wizardry, complex rhythms and
manipulated vocals. forcing beats meet distorted sequences, overlayed with a stunning usage of effects, interrupting breaks and acoustic instrumentation. economically used sampling and distraction add up the
tracks, a style architect is known for since the beginning. this is state-of-the-art electronic sound inseminated with sweat, sex and aspiration, showing myer's ability to push a few knobs and get a highly
concentrated extract of sweat, pain and lust.

this album proves daniel myer as a sixty-minute man who knows how to use all of his' tools. enjoy these ten climaxes plus the three phantastic remixes by torrent vacine, nebulo and synnack - beware of the lower lip interface!

Wanting to order the new Substanz-T after listening to samples from the new album. "Truth" stood out when listening. F.M. Einheit from Einstürzende Neubauten also performs percussion and Theremin, which will definitely be interesting to hear.

"this is a journey into sound - a journey which along the way will bring to you new colour, new dimension, new value." ('the world of stereo action', decca records)

there is one trend in substanz-t's musical development and that is its uniqueness. that is, substanz-t does not have just one sound. the chilling ambience of tripped experiences was followed by the hip-hop
influenced electric opium; the moods may change but the vibe never will. four years have passed, and that vibe is still within "beyond e".substanz-t has traded electric opium's roughness for hypnotic, almost
melancholic sentiments. this album is a perfect merger of downtempo beats, post-psychedelic electronica, driving electric bass pulses and soulful vocals. synth lines, sequences and striking effects are kept
together by varied rhythms - which expertly balance acoustic and electronic instrumentation. all the while, a manipulated, manipulating voice calls you...

listening to substanz-t's music is like being sucked into a black hole - you never know what is waiting beyond... new colour. new dimension. new value.

Lower Lip Interface is quite a good piece of work, alternating between lovely and intense, complex and straightfoward. It has some rather quiet, haunting pieces like "Ghost of a Working Man" and (my personal favorite) "Pissed in the Morning". The latter is especially delightful: very gentle notes...almost whispering...contrasted by this insistant, pulsating, stuttering rhythm. (Hard to describe. You gotta experience this track!)

"Routine" is another favorite of mine. A more straightfoward, heavy throbbing type of club song. But it's dark, dramatic and wonderful. Love it.

I think Myer really tries to push himself with each album. He just seems to be extra sensitive to all those soundscapes and layers he puts into his music.

Just now noticing the mechanical sighs in the background of Routine. Maybe if I am ever able to see Architect live again it will be possible to understand the lyrics…

this track was finished in a couple of hours. klima gave me the rough idea with that amazing leadbassline, i programmed some drums and added some pads and bumm,
a track i always wanted... well, i wanted it to sound a little like dive/sonar and i think
we did a good job.
