Yep, I rescued two ratties- rather, they kind of fell into my lap. An acquaintance left the country and they needed a home quickly. A colleague said "Hey, Holley loves rats! Let's give them to her!"

"Hey Holley, can you take care of them for a while? It'll only be two weeks, promise!"

That was three months ago. They came to me skinny, scared, poorly socialized, with thin, course fur, and *nothing* in this crappy cage that is two times two small for one rat let alone two. And eating CAT FOOD. Oooooooo I was SO MAD that night! Poor things. So I got them some proper food, gave them lots of toys and boxes and fabric to play with (you know how they love to redecorate ), and now they are fat, happy, very friendly, healthy ratties who brux all the time.

They didn't even come to me with *names*. "Oh, that one we call Spot, that one we call Stripe"- they are mismarked hooded berks. And they thought they were BOYS!!

How can you, um, mistake girl rats for boys, if you catch my meaning?!?

So the outgoing one is Jill after a favorite character in a book, and the other is Sophie because she is calmer and much smarter.

Yes, as soon as I get moved in I will post pics, and of course you can certainly be their British Auntie Niki!

I have told my colleagues that the rats and I have bonded (true) and I am not giving them back! I was told that is fine.

re: Amphi- NO idea yet about how this year's EuroJaunt is going to go, or when it will, or if it will. Lots of happenings on the homefront that need to be attended to before I can go anywhere. But I will do my best to try.
