Videodrome again for the first time in two years.

Kind of weirded out.

I haven't seen that in a long time. I was prompted to Wiki it just to see how many bands have sampled it- a LOT!

That reminds me, I need to see Tetsuo eventually!

Yes, you really do!!

And that reminds *me* that I need to see Tetsuo 2: Body Hammer. I've had it for ages but never got around to watching it. Perhaps I will host a Tetsuo-A-Thon in the near future... ;)

...then again, two Tetsuos in a row might be a bit much...

Not many interesting films at the independent theater here, so, instead of being depressed about that I just decided to fuel my Cronenberg/Lynch collections.

Needless to say it's been a weird month!

Coraline.

Not that it's indie, but it still looks intriguing. You, my friend, need an subscription to Netflix. $10/mo, one film in the mail with no late charges, can hold onto it as long as you want, and unlimited instant viewing with tons of indie films and documentaries. I heart my Netflix.

I might go for that, most of the films I order are used copies ranging from 4-8$. Nothing too difficult to cover.

Coraline looks interesting, have not heard anything about it until now. All of the films showing at the Angelika right now are boring, so I'll probably seek out that one instead.

Some interesting new films are being released:

•Tetro (-August 7)
•District 9 (-August 14)
•Cold Souls (-August 21)
•Der Baader Meinhof Komplex (-September 18 )

Will probably have to see them all.

I think, I might agree with that if the viewer wants to see a film that will make them feel good.

For the emotional masochists, there's always Antichrist by von Trier, which I think is the best film of 2009 that I'd recommend to absolutely no one. It's great visually, but emotionally it's akin to taking sledgehammer blows to the face for 90+ minutes. Which says quite a bit because I used to work in hospitals and usually shrug off stressful visual imagery.
