[ I've loved the suit thing since Kraftwerk, Japan, Roxy Music, etc- but I was especially delighted the first time I saw an actual picture of Covenant and saw how they were contrasting really harsh sounds (which I love) with elegant *suits* (which I also love).

:perfekt:

Hey, that's exactly what I wanted to say. :)
What an easy way to improve the number of my postings. ;)

Besides - I like that dress Eskil's wearing at those photos. I wish there were pictures of Clas and Joakim, too.

I just found a couple of pics with the guys in the dresses while going through my hard drive:

I don't know who took them, or even what show they're from, so I can't do a proper credit. :/ I wonder if the guys kept them when they switched to the suits.

Oh Michele, thank you! :-]

I wish I had seen them back in those days. The outfits remind me a bit of a dress David Bowie has worn once: http://www.artistopia.com/david-bowie

Theirs seem to be dresses worn over satin shirts with belts and collars. Look pretty professional for being self-made (by men, hahaaaa). The white collar looks a bit like those Catholic priests wear beneath the collars of their shirts. There’s a special term I don’t remember at the moment.

Anyway – I like the dresses but I prefer the suits. ;)

For me, I think that Eskil would look amazing wearing a garbage bag!!! It is the way that he carries himself. He has a lot of charisma and flair.

Michele, thanks a lot for sharing the pictures! They reminded me how great those dresses looked. Much better than back in 1995 or 1996 when they were wrapped in black plastic. ;)

From what I've heard they actually may have worn garbage bags once or twice back in the day!!! Or at least tin foil!!!

Wow Michele! Thanks a bunch! :-]

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought of Bowie, too. Those focks were pretty interesting, and I mean that in a good way. Have to say that the suits work well, too. :D

:)

Those dresses...

It's a true story how we went to a women's dress shop and tried out different dresses. It was hilarious. The shirts came from a well known Swedish mega-chain and they were indeed satin. The "Figurehead" logo we had printed at a local printshop and the belts were army surplus utility belts.

The pictures above were probably taken somewhere in Germany during the 1996 "Cybervision" tour with haujobb and Steril. I think so because Clas is there and he was absent on the 1997 US tour where we also used the dresses. It could be in Sweden too, of course. I've never seen those pictures before. Oh those unglorious days of yore! ;)

The other customers at that shop must have had a great day...

Thanks for the information! :)

What scares me about this story is the idea that my mom would surely love their actual outfits... And she's going to be 65 this year. 8o

Definitely not the US. There are too many keyboards and too many band members in those pics for it to be the States! ;)

Yet, here you are, twenty-one years after forming together to make music. :perfekt:

Here's to hoping that the dreams you had back in those "unglorious days" have not only come but have also reached far beyond them. :D

I´d don´t think I could make my mother loving them. For her, it remains rubbish. After once having build up this opinion, she would hardly say something else.

My mom wouldn't like the music, too. But she might like such nicely dressed young men with reasonable haircuts. Especially when she compares them to her shabby, pierced, black dressed daughter.

I think I could get my dad into Cov if I played the right tracks. I had Architect playing in the car once and my dad was completely intrigued. Yes! Architect! as in Daniel Myer's IDM side project!

I would love to drag my 70-something year-old dad to an electronic show :)

No! No way! My dad loves awful music, and my mom prefers classic!
