Your hopes & dreams regarding a new Covenant project

My biggest hope for the new material is that it be challenging. Across the many different genres of music that I listen to, many of my all-time-favorite albums and bands I initially disliked. That is, something about the material did not instantly mesh with my frame of mind, but nevertheless was compelling enough to keep me listening to it. When did you first discover Covenant?

It was right after Skyshaper came out. This guy I had recently met in college was really excited that he had just bought it and we sat down and listened to it. I was instantly hooked and prompted hunted down every album and single I could get my hands on. The guy had been a huge fan for years, to the point that Covenant's music had come to profoundly influence his worldview and personal philosophy (in conjunction with VNV Nation, actually). Now I'm not far off.

Just saw these gives live in New York City. Their performance was absolutely amazing and the new songs fit really well into the set list with older songs like Joy and Solitary (the first time it's been played in five years). They also played Still Waters from Reformation 1 for the first time ever live. Ronan needed a cheat sheet to keep the lyrics straight and told someone in the audience to "Shut. Vote for your favourite Covenant album!

I voted for United States of Mind and Northern Lights, in that order. Reason being that those two albums, with Skyshaper coming in a near third, contain my enduring favorite songs by Covenant. USoM especially, I think, is terribly underrated. Whereas Sequencer was an extremely consistent album even to be point of being repetitive, USoM struck me as being powerful because each of the songs was exceptionally well-developed.
