New Autechre - Oversteps (23 March, 2010)

Found this mentioned on Warp

Zitat

"We are proud to announce that Autechre will release their new album 'Quaristice' on Warp Records in early 2008.

More details to follow... "

Very exited. Untilted was very warm for me, going to grab Confield or Draft 7.30 if I can find a copy of either this month. Don't like the early stuff though.

RE: New Autechre in March 2008!

It's amazing to me that you don't like the earlier material. You really most go and re-listen to Tri Repetae. Or at least LP5. "Corc" is one of my favorite songs on earth. Ever.

The first two I cannot really get lost in, everything after Amber is cool for me.

I'm weird.

Neues interview...

Zitat

Kraftwerk’s probably the reference point for nearly all electronic music really, would you be proud if one day they said Autechre was considered a reference point?

It’s hard to say, because it’s all electronic isn’t it? I mean Richard James, when he came out with Didgeridoo, even Locust and people like that were already shaking the ground with new ideas and feelings. But at the same time if you play something like Selected Ambient Works alongside Eno’s Apollo or Music for Films you’ll find complete evidence of the same ideas. It’s not to say they’re being ripped off, it’s just that some people can stumble across the same thing. I mean, let’s face it, we’re all like sheep in a high tech world in that we’ve all got the same gear now, we’ve all heard of DX7s, an MPC or an Apple Mac. It’s a weird world we live in; if you want to be super-cynical about it, we’re all fucking clones - do you know what I mean?

Yes, and I will be a wide-eyed, mesmerized happy Kraftwerk lover until the day I shake off this mortal coil but dammit, why doesn't anyone ever mention Raymond Scott?!??

OHM: Early Gurus of Electronic Music- it's a must for electronic music lovers!

Raymond Scott

"Perhaps within the next hundred years, science will perfect a process of thought transference from composer to listener. The composer will sit alone on the concert stage and merely 'think' his idealized conception of his music. Instead of recordings of actual music sound, recordings will carry the brainwaves of the composer directly to the mind of the listener." —Raymond Scott, 1949

More Raymond Scott-a-Poppin'

And then there's Silver Apples, but I've already hijacked this thread enough... sorry Vor, sorry mods...

Alt/EP: Quaristice.Quadrange.ep.ae

Zitat

These are alternate versions of tracks from the latest album Quaristice and the special edition 2CD package of the album. These versions have not been made available before on any previous releases. The tracks are accompanied by track-by-track artwork from The Designers Republic.

http://bleep.com/

You can listen to the entire album online at bleep. The last track of the new EP is a very long drone/loop, not too far from Subterfuge for 3 Absynths. Naturally, 1/2 of Æ fans that have the EP are now furious!
