I was using a Canon Digital Rebel XT with a 80mm/1.8 lens (too close for most of my Covenant shots). I tried shooting wide open at 1.8 in aperature priority, but I wasn't getting fast enough shutter speeds.. so I just opted for the flash fills. I had a speedlite 580X set on auto, and the camera then set in programmed AE mode.
There was no problem getting that into 3rd ward (but I didnt use the speedlite at 3rd ward, just the builtin flash). However, in Toronto (where we were searched) she picked up my little sony camera and said "shoot more than 2 min of video and they are going to take this from you." then she made a big stink about my canon.. and told me a needed a photo pass for a professional camera... but I got to do some video stuff in Toronto too.. and the merchandise chica who was in charge of the video people had just ran in the venue and I pointed in her direction and told them she had my "photo pass"... and they didn't seem like they wanted to run after her, and they were checking me off the list at the same time, and in the confusion and what not, they just let me in with the camera.
The 2 min threat was pointless anyway... there were people in the front row filming with digital cameras... there was nothing they could do about it really while Covenant was on stage.
