Oh thanks- yeah that will be helpful. I printed out the map from the flyer but it did not come out well to say the least... I am resourceful so with all the helpfulnes I have been receiving I'm sure I'll be fine... :)

In Lodz at Last

Well, after a diabolically treacherous train ride from Warsaw to Lodz in which the passengers, myself included, were convinced that the train broke down in the middle of nowhere for 20 min (being there were no stops or stations to be seen- collective statement from Polish passengers: "UH OH!!"... not a good sign, even if it was followed by drunken laughter!), I am finally safe and sound in Lodz and in my hotel. Which has wireless internet access. You can't see me, but I am quietly crying tears of joy about this, being I now can cease thinking of torturing my roommate in new and creative ways for convincing me to bring this damn thing. :mauer:

Looking *very* forward to the show tonight, needless to say!

Yes, *erichazann*, these particular boots are warm and comfy; not like the monsters you met me in, heh...

Early now, probably will be on computer for a while longer than walk around Lodz a little, must find club sometime today so I know where to go tonight...

...Snow!!

Yeah well, I live in a freaking desert, allow me my simple pleasures... ;)

Anyway, looking forward to meeting some of you tonight.

post-festival

Exhausted and happy. Definetely worth flying in from Texas for.
Or, as I told LadyKomachi, "I did NOT fly thousands of miles to give up my beloved spot on front center stage!" ;)

And so I didn't, and so now this wonderful experience with incredibly friendly and fun people, good music, and rivers of beer leaves me mystified as to *why* we don't have these festivals in the States. We do have Black Sun but it hasn't been going on very long I don't think. And Lollapalooza/Ozzfest don't count. No. :nein:

Along with Covenant of course, Controlled Collapse and Empire in Dust were really really great too. Enjoyed them.

I wonder if Clas woke with a huge bruise somewhere on him today? I wonder if he remembers how he got it? That fall he took was alarming. Acrobatic, but alarming.

It was so much fun to meet you guys! Must keep in touch. And many thanks for your welcoming and being kind to this strange American girl who's wandering Europe at the moment. ;)

Hi Marishka,

It was so great to meet you too!

Yes, I regret not finding you to say goodbye- I did not mean to be rude- I was so, so tired and more than a little... ahh... well, drunk, actually, so I kind of scanned the crowd to see there were people to say my goodbyes too and I am afraid I wasn't as thorough as I would have liked.

Ah, you'll see me again- I'm sure of it! ;)

*big hugs back!*

I guess you went out when I've been downstairs with Empire In Dust or Head-Less.

To Clas:
I've seen him twice today again, and he didn't seem to have any achings...
I'm wondering - 'cause this fall was really hard.

Ha- give him time!!

Seriously though, I think all of us on the front registered a collective gasp and instinctively reached over to pull the light out of the way when he fell. Maybe it looked a lot worse than it was, I don't know. It looked pretty damn painful though- the kind where you end up cringing on his behalf!

Vodka= tried and true anaesthetic!!

You're not still in Poland are you? I understood your group was returning to Germany today? I'm still here in Lodz, now until the 7th. I think I'm too lazy to leave. ;)
Back to the States on the 13th. No idea in between those!

We'll see, but I don't think, that he hurted very much. Joakim was looking much more worse today ;)

No, I'm back home since about 1 1/2 hours.
We left this morning at 11.30 and took a taxi from Lodz to Warschau.

This trip was really an adventure... but a great one. :D :-]

Hahahahahaha! Yeah, I can definitely understand why!!

This is kind of tangential, but it reminds me a bit of how in San Antonio a big guy wearing a wolfman mask came onstage up to Eskil and presented him with a tray of jello shots... Eskil laughed, took one, and then stage-dived into the audience shortly afterwards during Dead Stars... very amusing- why don't I own a camera for these kinds of moments?!?

It really was the guy in the mask patiently waiting there with a tray onstage while Eskil sang that made it very funny in a surreal sort of way.

I would be very surprised if he even remembers that, heh. No excuse of good vodka in Texas though- stuck with crap beer.

Yeah, as Eskil said "Your Vodka is just too good!" ;)
And he's right. I got a bottle of Niki and Mark and this IS a good one!
I guess I have a little understanding for Joakim.

Hm, maybe I need to take some of this stuff home!!

75

Do this.
The one I gut from Niki and Mark is named Zubrowka.
Tasts really good!!

And now I have to go to bed... I need a lot of sleep and have to get rid of these headaches...
But that's all been worth this great and unforgetable weekend! :) :perfekt:

(and thanks to Eskil again for your kindness!!)

HAHA! It wasn't the Wolfman, it was the Burger King!!!! :D. And, I managed to get that portion of evening on video w/ the Covenant camera. I did not get the stage dive crowd surf on video tho. But I did get a ok picture of Eskil taking the dive. I'll dig it out. I wasn't sure what he was trying to do at first?? I thought he was just trying to get up and balance himself on that little divider thingie that was on the edge of the stage.. which I think was no more than 2" wide.

Sounds like you had a fun time. Wish I was there. :(

That's *right*- it *was* the Burger King!! Wolfman/Burger King... they do look a bit similar...

Aaaaaahh I am so glad you got that on tape! I wasn't sure what he was doing at first either and I thought the same as you- that he was trying to balance himself. But no, then he stage dives which was completely unexpected!

I sincerely, sincerely hope that ends up on the final edit because it was just so hilarious from start to finish. And yeah, do find the pic of him taking the dive if you can- I'd love to see it!

Good times!

We did have fun- wish you were here too, but there will be other times for sure. And then maybe next year we can get a group of us in the States together for a Covenant show or festival. That would be fun. I just have to remember to give my friends ample warning next time!

OK, off to try and sleep now (yeah right!) :D

that was an excellent weekend and a remarkable concert with you all there in Lodz :)
The concert felt much more intense than in the larger venues in Germany when I saw them the last time. Ok, they had no decoration and special light show on stage this time, but they were performing death defying stunts, wow! :D
And the band members were very close to the audience as there was no barrier in front of stage.
The setlist contained a good mix of new and old tracks. I heard it should have been basically the same as played at the DNA Lounge (San Francicso).
But for now I feel drawn to my bed...

Oh by the way, erichazann, I really have to thank you- if it weren't for you telling me about the forum at the San Antonio show I probably wouldn't have made the Poland show. I was planning on returning to Europe and I do keep up with shows of bands worldwide but I don't know if I would have thought it feasible to go to Poland if I hadn't been communicating with people who *were* going, if that makes sense.

So, thank you. :)

And the next time I see you, I will buy you copious amounts of good vodka, if we can find it! ;)
