I think some feedback on this show in the english section of this forum wouldn't cause much harm - apart from making everyone who missed the show in Duisburg f*cking jealous! :P

Geezaz, it's almost scary how awesome our boys are at the moment! The shows just get better and better!

Many people give our "new boy" ;) Daniel the credit for the new energy within the band, and so do I. But Joakim and Eskil deserve a lot of credit too, as they very clearly embrace new input and new power the new band member has brought to Covenant.

The fresh impulses by Daniel do not just go up in smoke, both "old boys" pick up willingly the new vibe and allow themselves to be carried away to new strengths. Not that they started on a low - but to be frank, the Skyshaper era had many highlights, both live and on the respective album, but on the other hand there were also one or two only less-than-stellar musical moments and also one or two shows which were not Covenant's usual high standard.

All the more I am happy that Covenant have refocussed, found new strengths and the way back to old strengths.

In fact this sense of excitement and adventure from the first years to their "breakthrough years" is back, fully. What could make a fan happier? :)

The set of songs they performed in Duisburg [see Daniel's post in the german thread] was just brilliant. Ranging from old to new back to very old, the setlist hardly left anything to be desired.

One of my personal highlights was Rising Sun, a song I truly love and which I didn't expect to be in the playlist again. Wonderful! Another gem was Storm from the Sequencer album, which I experienced live in concert for the first time ever (I think ;) ). And Covenant took the song title very literal! It was really a sonic storm, and although some might claim that Daniel's deconstruction of the music towards the end was a bit too much I simply loved it. :D

Just as much as they let a pop song like Dead Stars collapse in chaotic noise after five minutes of dance fun. Hehe, that's the way I like it! :D

It was very evident that Eskil, Joakim and Daniel enjoyed their performance and that they had a good time on stage. And this translated well to their audience. Joakim's distorted vocal noises was spot on, and every now and then he would show that he knows how to get a crowd going, too. Daniel's drumming give the live experience a great extra-punch, and I love his clever little tweaks and noises anyway. And Eskil - whoa! His vocals and his abilities as a frontman are both in top shape!

I was also very happy that One World One Sky found its way back into the setlist, a great stomper as the final song of the night. Actually I was so happy about it that I decided to carry around a certain other boardie in front of the stage. Never mind the moshpit, here's big ole Niggels with a bird on his shoulder! :D

Blame the Jägermeister, if you like. ;)

Yes, I am insanely jealous, but insanely glad that people who are able to attend these shows share the awesomeness with the rest of us. Beautiful work, Dani, Claudia, and Niggels!

And, of course, beautiful work to our beautiful boys. :)
