Covenant in MEXICO!!!!

At last… after all this years Covenant arrives with a great show in Mexico City the past 21/10/06. And only a few of us saw Eskil Simonsson (I recognize him immediately!) Walking around the bar with several bodyguards. It didn’t stop me and I touch the darkness in the suit and tell him that I need to hear only one song (feedback). Then disappear like a ghost and the show begins.

At midnight, when the day turns on 22/10/06 a glorious voice shouts 20 Hz, with beautiful blue and red lights. The crowd starts to scream, it was amazing! I can’t remember exactly the order of the songs, but the only thing that I know is that the third one was FEEDBACK!

Then Covenant plays songs like:

Brave New World
Stalker
Ritual Noise (the favorite of Eskil, according to him)
Happy Man
The Men
Call the Ships to Port
Bullet
We Stand Alone
Dead Stars
Tour the Force
Theremin
One World One Sky
Helicopter
And 1 more… ?(

There were 3 different encores! ;( Unfortunelly Covenant didn’t play Tears in Rain and Babel. But it was one of the greatest shows in all my life.

Sorry for my english...

RE: Covenant in MEXICO!!!!

Let me make a little tweak at your list:
Helicopter was not played, unfortunately!, and you are missing TENSION, a mix version and Invisible and Silent.

Also does anybody know why Clas was absent in the show, and who was the guy that was supporting as special guest?

do you have any pictures?

I guess Clas did not get enough vacation days from work. So he had to go back to Sweden... happens from time to time ;)

Here is one. Does any one have an accurate set with the list in order?

The sound was awful, the thing i liked the most is how the audience reacted.

Can't tell anything from that photo, is is very bad quality.

This was the setlist in San Antonio, almost the same as SF... it might be *very* similar to Mexico. Except, we only had 2 encores. Eskil dismantled Clas' synthrack during Dead Stars... (to create more dance space? or as a symbolic end to the NA tour?) so that killed the option of another encore I guess.

20Hz
Feedback
Bullet
Tension
Tour De Force
Invisible and Silent
The Men
We Stand Alone
Ritual Noise
Stalker
--
Theremin
Call the Ships to Port
Brave New World
--
Happy Man
Dead Stars

I could be wrong on the order of CTSTP and BNW tho.

I remember seeing a ticket that someone scanned and put on photobucket or somewhere, and on the ticket it said 'No video. No cameras' or something. So maybe the only photos are of bad quality.

I have that photo and others in high quality but i have to put it that way since the limit for attachments is 20k.

yeah. that ticket is on deviantart.com

i asked about that and the merch girl (aliki) said if the band says it's ok, the venues and promoters usually go along with it. but she didn't know what to expect in mexico. in toronto, the venue was strict about cameras and video.. but I managed to get my camera in, and even tho they threatened to take away cameras that video'ed more than 2 min, they did not enforce that rule.

If you have photoshop, the saveforweb option should compress it enough and leave it looking decent. Otherwise, please upload to flickr! :D It's free.

Question: Why do some venues not allow cameras and such? Is it because they only want professionals taking photos and videos so they can sell them? Or something else?

I took some bootleg ones let me try to move them from my camera to a jpg format and that's for sure I'll share them with all you.

There are some legal reasons why venues/bands wouldn't want to allow photography and videography. In the US, for example, there are laws that stipulate that certain kinds of public photography are a violation of privacy laws. (One venue i know gets around this by posting a sign above their door that says, essentially, 'if you walk inside you are granting consent to have your photo taken and used.') Also, certain kinds of audio and video recordings can be copyright infringement.

Here is one pic, remember that is I don't want to damage nobody or do any type of commerce with this stuff; it is only for those fans that enjoy the band. This was taken just when Eskil went down the scenario to close the gig singing among us One Word One Sky. It was a little crazy because the crown tried to get so close that he almost fell down. He had to claim by one side of the scenario to get up there again and be safe from us :).

Like Sharon said, video is a major concern because it is illegal in a lot of places to record video of a person w/o their knowledge and/or consent. That is why people have to post when the premises are under video surveillence (security systems).

I don't know why the venue in Toronto distinguished between professional cameras and little point and shoots.. when some little cameras are just as good as a big fancy camera. (They told me I needed a photopass because I had the big fancy camera, but didn't say anything about the little one.)

In NY at Irving Plaza, they also don't let you take any video, but cameras are allowed. The security is not strict tho.. they basically tell you "don't take any video" in a I'm-just-doing-my-job-telling-you-no-video tone, and leave it at that.

Didn´t you want to know who was the second keyboarder? So I´d need a picture of him ;)

Clas couldn't make it to Mexico City due to work commitments. Eskil and I discussed it and decided that we'd prefer to try to find a replacement keyboardist rather than putting Clas' parts on the backtrack. It feels and looks better with three people on stage, even if no-one can replace Clas. He's unique.

The guy's name is Eliezer Ortiz and he's a young musician from Mexico City. We're grateful that he was brave enough to jump in on such a short notice. He did a great job considering the difficult circumstances.

Oh, and thanks to all you lovely people who showed up in MC! It certainly was an incredible experience. :)

LOL Well, I feel very silly for not knowing something as obvious as that. I guess it's not such a big deal up here in Canada... Or I don't get out that much.
