Songs you hate...your least favourite song! ;-)

Hi there!

Not much going on here, right?

I just thought to start a new thread to get things going again....and yes, this is thread that´s gonna make Eskil, Joakim and Clas burst out in tears and leave them in grief and despair....ehm, sort of. ;)

I guess we all love the majority of Covenant´s music (otherwise we wouldn´t even bother coming here, would we? ) but I guess everyone also has one or two tracks which he/she is not too fond of. Or something you can´t stand anymore. Or a song you deeply, deepely despise.... :schimpf: ;)

Okay, go for it:

Which are the Covenant songs you do not like (or even actually hate)? 8o

C´mon, share your secret! :D

I think I have to rub my head a while over my own question.

Uhm, ehm...here I go:

No Man´s Land: When I first listened to United States Of Mind, this was one out of two songs (the other being One World One Sky) where I thought "WTF? What the hell is that?". While One World One Sky really was a grower for me (love it live!), No Man´s Land never did anything for me. Don´t know why - is it just the bassdrum which reminds me a touch to much of Underworld´s Born Slippy? However, at shows it seems to be a fan favourite. For me a nice opportunity to take a break after all the jumping around. ;)

We Stand Alone: Again a song that seems to be a fan favourite at Covenant´s concerts. Actually I like it live but whenever I listen to Northern Light at home this is the track I tend to skip. For me it follows too much the "Future Pop" route - a rude person may say it´s Covenant´s VNV Nation track. ;) The only thing I love about this song is the jazzy piano that comes in at the end which gives the song a tongue-in-cheek feel (no idea if this was the boys intention, though).

Dreams Of A Cryotank: Yes, I know that this is an album and not a single song. ;) Many EBM old-schoolers still hold this album dearest, complaining that Covenant has changed too much since then. *sniffsniffsniff* One half of DOAC gives you indeed a hint at the genius that was to come after it. Great songwriting, great grooves, cool sounds and thoughtful lyrics. The other half is utter bullocks. C´mon guys, do you really think this is Covenant´s best??? It´s quite good for a debut and it holds a few early gems, so far so good. But it´s nothing compared to the fully displayed glory on Sequencer, Europa, USOM and Northern Light! :P

Oh, I just noticed that Sequencer and Europa are the two albums where I can not pick out a single song to pluck it off and have a go at. :D Okay, the album version of Figurehead is slightly too long and also prefer the club version because of the howling vocals in the last part, but this is really really a minor gripe. ;)

I also noticed that I sometimes don´t like Covenant´s singles at first but come to love them later. This happened with Tour De Force, Der Leiermann, Call The Ships To Port, and even Dead Stars. But after a while these songs really grew on me and now I dig them all. The only single I seemed to love from the start is Final Man, and I still do.

C´mon, what are your "least favourites"? :D

Right now I could think just of one 'least favourite' song - We Want Revolution.
I don't know why but I never have patience to listen it through. I usually skip it after the first 10 seconds. The harder I try to wait till the end of the song, the less I like it :P
No reason - I just don't like it

Oh, I really expected the first post to be like "Niggels, you´re fucking nuts!" ;)

When I first listened to We Want Revolution I thought that this track should have been a bit faster, edgier, punchier. Especially with the topic it has. I guess most bands would make a song which is called "We Want Revolution" the fastest and most aggressive of the album. But somehow its the little twist of the song that its sounds rather groovy, relaxed and indeed sexy.
But if you don´t like it that´s okay for me. Sometimes you just don´t like something and it´s hard to put your finger on why you don´t.

I love "We want revolution"
According "No man´s land" I must agree Niggels... this is a song I do not like very much and mostly I skip it when listening to the album...

But in fact there is no Covenant song I really hate.

A song I really "hate" is this Ketchup Song, this makes me feel very sick. But that doesn´t afflict Covenant. ;)

I can´t believe it. Even when I think of my most adored band Depeche Mode, there are some songs I do not like very much! ?(

but i don't hate any covenant songs!!!

and by the way... i love "no man's land"!!! ;)

my least favourites are:
shipwreck
it's alright
still life
we break down
scared

but hey, most of them are b-side-tracks or the slow songs from end of the albums....

so it represenatative for their songs, isn't it?

If you lived in Bush Country--a.k.a the United States, you would like that song A LOT.
In fact, you might petition for it to be the new national anthem.

We Want Revolution

kill your television
steal the satellites
download all the codes
catch the public eye

shout your manifesto
bring your megaphone
stay below the radar
join the underground

I want to car, skid and crash into the brave new world
I want to ride

we want revolution
constant evolution
start your engines blow your fuses
burn the bridges for the future
this is our solution

time for retribution
bring your target down
beat the jungle drums
flaunt your decadence

Underground Resistance
keeps you entertained
feed your hungry mind
shape the things to come

I want to car, skid and crash into the brave new world…

we want revolution…

Hmm..mucho interessssting topic Niggels..

Least favorite, hmm..when it comes to me i guess it´s a mood thing above all, a song that i absoulutley love.. like "still life" sometimes annoys the hell out of me... and i guess that goes for all, the mood kind of sets the flavor of the day.

But then offcourse there are those that never will be on my love list (never say never)..like "final man" for instance, but who knows.. ;)

okay without the cd's in front of me i am having a hard time remebering a couple of titles but above and beyond all others i dislike... (drum roll please...) DEAD STARS

that song grates on my nerves because it got soooo overplayed at the clubs i went to ... i would request tour de force and the :schimpf: dj's would play dead stars.... when i complained they would say "well it wasn't tears in rain" :mauer: :mauer: I LIKED TEARS IN RAIN.... wow this feels good :D

My least favourite is LIQUID SKY. It's a little bit boring for me, not affects any joy. Shipwreck is very depressing for me also.

I like We want revolution, especially the secong refrain, when Eskil sings it a little bit lengthened, and the synth strings and pads emerge. Thats very beautyful. And also the final seconds, when the music is muffled, it sounds as it heard from a little radio.
