So I was asking my German friends this question and thought I'd ask here too.

Are you doing anything to celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall? And if so, what? It is quite the momentous occasion.

We where having an outdoor photo exhibition during the whole month in the german embassy. Then screening of German movies, for free. Now this sunday, we´ll have a giant domino-thing like they had in Berlin, but in the city center of Buenos Aires.

Yes, thousands of km away, Argentina is also celebrating :)

I remenber that I was shopping with my girlfriend in (Ost)-Berlin in August 1989.
Suddently we stand in front of the BrandenburgerTor and I said to my girlfriend:
" Maybe, In 40 years we can stay on the other side of the gate*.

And 3 months later "Die Mauer(The wall)" was history!!!

*In the GDR was it only pensioners allowed travelling to western european countries without a special licence/permission.

That's pretty cool. I hadn't realized that so many other countries were doing something special. Here in Canada, there were a couple of television specials but that was about it.

Cheers!
